Auditory-Verbal Therapy

Auditory-verbal therapy is provided for those who are deaf, have hearing disorders, or use hearing technology such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. It aims to teach said patients how to listen and communicate through spoken language. For children, this process includes the parents and is structured around play. For adults, this service is available through telehealth for patients who do not live locally.

Central Texas Therapy Spot is honored to have Jilinda Robinson, a certified speech-language pathologist and certified auditory-verbal therapist, who provides this service to our patients in need.

Gestalt Language Processors

Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) is a way some individuals, particularly children, learn language by memorizing and using chunks or “gestalts” of language rather than building sentences word by word. This method can be particularly common among children on the autism spectrum. They might learn phrases or sentences as whole units and then break them down into smaller parts over time.

Central Texas Therapy Spot provides services for GLP by focusing on helping these individuals by recognizing their unique way of processing language and supporting their development through specialized techniques. These services might include speech therapy, social skills training, and individualized learning plans that cater to the needs of gestalt language processors

Myofunctional Disorders

Myofunctioanl therapy is an exercise training program for the muscles in and around your face, mouth and tongue.  This therapy helps improve speech disorders, eating functions, sleep-disordered breathing, tongue thrusts, and grinding of teeth.

Thumb/Digit Sucking Elimination Program

Our thumb sucking elimination program is designed to help your child make behavioral and oral changes to eliminate oral habits that can be negatively affecting them.  This program is completed through weekly therapy appointments that lasts approximately 4-6 weeks to complete.

Auditory Processing Disorder

Auditory Processing Disorder or APD is also known as central auditory processing disorder. Patients affected by this condition are not able to hear in the same way as others because their brain and ears don’t coordinate normally. There is something interfering with the way their brain interprets and recognizes sounds, particularly speech.

Central Texas Therapy Spot is honored to have Jilinda Robinson, a certified speech-language pathologist and certified auditory-verbal therapist, who has specific training from the Auditory Processing Institute to help treat APD.
